Possible themes to unite our work for the installation include: orientation to Mississippi River, ecological typologies, or similar processes.

Mississippi River

My system occurs primarily at the mouth of the delta of the Mississippi River, like the fringe at the bottom of a wide skirt. Occasionally pipelines extend into upland areas while refineries are scattered throughout several locations.

Ecologies:

My model attempts to explore both the industrial ecology of the oil and gas network as well as the wetland ecology in which it is embedded. The natural ecology includes freshwater, intermediate and brackish marshlands, as well as marine environments.

Processes:

Processes explored are: insertion/puncture of oil wells; incision and cutting of canals; infiltration and saltwater intrusion; and finally disintegration and fragmentation of wetlands.
