I am finding myself reading through the text and understanding the material just fine. When I go to actually work through the text tutorials, I find myself slipping into a time sink. I do not want to fall behind; however, I don't want to miss out on key steps that will help me later on. It's hard to gauge how much of this is hang up is due to me re-learning 3dS Max, my slow speed of working through the material, or my laptop struggling to deal with all of the line work from the tutorial files. Is it more important to read through the material and do the tutorials that seem totally foreign to me or is it better to make sure that I can accomplish these key exercises first before I move on to the subsequent chapters?
