I am having trouble importing my 3D diagram from SketchUp into After Effects. I exported it as a .3Ds and object files and both have not worked. None of the options to import into AE match those that I can save my model into SketchUp. I was wondering if anyone has imported models from 3ds Max yet..or if you can only import animations. I read up online about this troubleshooting, but see that maybe you cannot actually import a 3D object into After Effects.

Awesome tip: You can export as a 3D file then open it in Photoshop CS4, save as a .PSD then import into After Effects CS4 and work with it as editable 3D layers. This has just blown my mind and although I tried it and it didn't quite do what I wanted...I am going to look through the tutorials to see if there is any help with the specifics on importing these 3D layers. I'll post that if I find it also.

Check out the tutorials on Lynda.com: After Effects: Beyond The Basics: Ch. 11: Working with Live 3D objects from Photoshop if you are using After Effects this way too.
